#4 – iDeal or No Deal – Part 4
Clifton Curry, youth minister at Glenville Baptist Church in Wichita, KS, contributes his thoughts as we move into the fourth part of our series. We look at why most of us often want Jesus in our life but not in our lifestyle. Sometimes we create self-inflicted pain by striving for what society calls ideal, so we dive into Ecclesiastes this episode to drive home the point that God wants everyone to enjoy and rejoice in life. I think you hit the nail on the head with the fact that having Jesus lead your life, literally letting him rule over aspect of your life, is the only way of having true “joy”. My dad always said that joy meant “Jesus first, other second, and yourself last,” and I think this is what sums up this podcast. Thanks for a great one this week!
Not too difficult with other people’s kids. But that’s easier said than done when it’s your own flesh and blood making choices. I’m sure I’m only being paid back for the greif that I gave my folks; but, it is sure hard to take when the shoe is on the other foot. It is true that they make me feel like ‘I look bad’ with some of their choices. But, it can really hurt, too. I get to thinking, “I’m so sorry Lord for not doing a better job in the parenting that you intrusted to me.” Sometimes, I think, “I know that they have free-will, but God I did try to teach them better than that.” I really don’t want them to have to learn the lessons the hard way like I did. More tears and prayers have been poured out of me over my children than probably any other issue. You may be targeting young adults and teens, but God is using you in other categories as well. Thanks.
